Petition to Nuzhat al-Dawlah
The peasants of the village of Turkaman write to Nuzhat al-Dawlah regarding compliance with her order for their cooperation in helping the poor. They state that everyone has been involved except Musa Kalantar, Karbalayi Khalil, and Hamd Allah Kadkhuda [the village chief], who have enticed the steward, Mashhadi Muhammad Aqa, to send a faulty report to Nuzhat al-Dawlah. Letter by Quch‘ali Muvaffaq al-Mulk, Malakah Jahan Khanum's steward, to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, recounting the actions of Riza Quli, a tenant of the Sa’in Qal‘ah and Nasir Abad properties, who has stolen some grains and refused to pay his rent, ousted Mirza ‘Ali Khan from the village, seizing his guns, horses, and household furnishings, harassed the village peasants, and captured and chained Haj Kalb‘ali and Haj Sabz‘ali, Malakah Jahan's stewards.
